WATERFORD FC

The Blues are back in league action away from home on Monday night, taking on Galway United in our latest SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division game of the 2026 season.

Monday’s game will be broadcast live on Virgin Media 2 & Virgin Media Play, making this the Blues’ second game of the season to be shown live on Virgin Media after our trip to Drogheda United last month was also shown live on television.

Waterford will look to bounce back after Friday night’s defeat in Dundalk with a positive result on Monday evening in Galway, with the Blues having fond memories of our last trip to Eamonn Deacy Park in 2025 when the Blues produced an impressive performance to defeat Galway 4-2 away from home for the first time in 18 years.

GALWAY UNITED FC

Jon Caulfield’s Galway United welcome the Blues for their fourth home game of the 2026 season, looking to bounce back from Friday night’s 1-0 defeat away to Bohemians at Dalymount Park. Patrick Hickey, who joined Bohemians from Galway in the off-season, scored the sole goal of the game three minutes from time to give Galway their third loss of the season.

Galway head into Monday night’s game against the Blues sitting on five points from their opening six league games, finding themselves in eighth position in the Men’s Premier Division table ahead of kick-off.

WATERFORD FC TEAM NEWS

Ahead of kick-off, Jon Daly has provided an update to his side’s fitness levels going into Monday’s trip to Galway.

After signing with the Blues, Monday’s game will come too soon for Kevin Long, with the experienced defender hopeful of being available for selection in the coming week or two.

Jordan Houston will miss Monday’s game after feeling his quad in the warm up on Friday in Dundalk, while John Mahon, Finlay Armstrong, Will Johnston all remain unavailable.

Arlo Doherty is close to returning after picking up a hamstring injury last month, with Jon Daly set to assess the goalkeepers fitness levels ahead of kick-off.
