MATCH REPORT: Waterford FC 0-3 Shamrock Rovers FC

Gary Hunt made six changes to his side from Saturday’s 0-0 draw away to Bohemians at Dalymount Park, with Mollie Levingston, Keira Burke, Jess Lawler, Leah O’Donoghue, Aisling Mahony & Caoimhe Carley all coming into the starting-eleven for the clash against the Hoops.

First effort of the game flew the way of the Blues on 5′, as Keira Burke intercepted a pass from the opposition before firing an effort over Amanda Burden’s crossbar from 25 yards.

At the other end, Katie O’Reilly rattled the Blues post just moments later, as both sides looked to start the game off on the right foot.

Both teams shared possession without creating any clear cut chances, before the visitors took the lead just after the first water break via Katie O’Reilly, who raced to the back post to get on the end of Ella Kelly’s cross.

Chloe Atkinson looked to get the Blues level quickly after falling behind, but her effort flew over Budden’s crossbar from long-range within two minutes of the visitors breaking the deadlock.

Katie O’Reilly look to find her second & her sides second after cutting in from the right, only to see her effort denied by Mollie Levingston – Levingston who was making her first start for our senior side this evening.

The visitors tested Levingston twice more before the break, but the Blues showstopper was level to the efforts as the Blues went into the break narrowly behind.

Half-time substitute Fiana Bradley had the first effort of the second period, heading Stephanie Dumevi’s cross field ball just over the Shamrock Rovers crossbar, before the visitors found a second just minutes later at the other end of the pitch.

Therese Kinnevey’s pin-point cross found the run of Emily Corbet who calmly slotted beyond Levingston to double their advantage infront of the 370 plus in attendance at the RSC.

Two became three on the seventy-minute mark as Katie O’Reilly’s effort found it’s way into the back of the Waterford net despite the best efforts by Mollie Levingston in the Waterford goal.

Bradley tested the hands of Amanda Budden in the Rovers goal inside the final five minutes, as the visitors held out for all three points with a three-goal display.
