Waterford FC are excited to announce the signing of Goforth Amedu who signs a deal with the Blues until the end of the 2026 campaign.

Amedu, a Nigerian native, makes the move to the RSC having joined the Blues in February, but has only recently received his visa to travel to Ireland after his agreement earlier in the year.
The 19 year-old versatile defender, who can also play in central midfield, began his career at FC One Rocket in the Nigerian third tier, before singing for Bayelsa United FC in the summer of 2024, where he spent one season with the Nigeria Professional Football League side – the highest level of club football in Nigeria.
Goforth spent the second-half of 2025 with Warri Wolves in the second-tier of Nigerian football, as he now makes the move to the League of Ireland with the Blues for the remainder of 2026.

Speaking on his signing with the Blues, Goforth spoke of his excitement to get straight to work with his new teammates, saying:
“I’m delighted to be here at Waterford & excited to get going. Having to wait a while to get here, I’m just focused now on meeting my new teammates and trying my very best to help make a positive impact on our season.
I’m looking forward to seeing all our supporters at the RSC on Friday for another important game, as we look to build on last week’s win.”
Goforth Amedu will wear the number 32 shirt for the Blues.
Welcome to Waterford, Goforth!
