Welcome to Waterford FC, Blair McKenzie!

Waterford FC are delighted to announce the signing of defender Blair McKenzie who joins the Blues on loan for the remainder of the 2026 season from Swansea City in the EFL Championship.

A versatile left-footed centre-back, McKenzie makes the move to the RSC having joined Swansea from Aberdeen of Scotland in May last year.

The 20 year-old has made almost 50 senior appearances in the Scottish Football League with Montrose & Elgin City prior to his move to the Welsh side, as he now joins up with the Blues for the second-half of our 2026 campaign.

Speaking to our club media earlier today, Blair spoke of his excitement to join the club, saying:

“Looking forward to meeting all the boys, getting down to training, and playing in front of the fans soon. I’ve heard so much about the passion here and can’t wait to pull on the jersey for the first time. This is a massive step for me and I’m excited to get started and give everything for this club.”

Blues Head Coach Graham Coughlan is excited to work with McKenzie, outline how important his versatility will be to the club:

“Blair will give us good balance with his left-foot. He can play at left-back, left wing-back, left sided centre-half and also in midfield. So when you’ve got a small squad, players like Blair with his versatility are key for us, someone who is capable of covering three or four positions.

He has pace, he’s athletic, he’s tidy with the ball and he’s tall. He’s had limited first-team experience recently, but he’s coming into a great dressing room and the lads will help him develop here at the club, and we’re looking forward to working closely with him.

Welcome to Waterford, Blair!
