Graham Coughlan’s side welcome Bohemians to the RSC this Sunday afternoon, as the Blues look to continue their fine run of form in recent weeks. After last week’s 1-0 win over Shelbourne at home, Waterford now find themselves on a six game unbeaten run going into Sunday’s clash against the Dubliners.
Tommy Lonergan netted his 13th goal of the season last week to earn the Blues their latest win against John Russell’s Shelbourne, with a clever diving header just minutes into the second half. This win sees the Blues lie in ninth position in the league table, with 25 points picked up in 26 games this year, just two points behind eighth-placed Drogheda United ahead of tomorrow with a game in hand on Drogheda after their scoreless draw in Galway on Friday night.
Waterford are yet to defeat Bohemians in 2026, with Sunday’s opponents picking up a 1-0 win at the RSC in March, before the Blues secured a point on the road in Dalymount Park back in April as John Mahon’s first-half header was cancelled out by Colm Whelan’s second-half penalty.
BOHEMIAN FC
Alan Reynold’s side travel to the RSC on Sunday looking to return to winning ways after being held to a 1-1 draw against Galway United at Dalymount Park last Sunday evening, after securing maximum points in their three previous games against Drogheda (2-0), St. Patrick’s Athletic (2-0) & Shelbourne (3-0).
Despite Tommy Lonergan (13) leading the goalscoring charts this season, last Sunday saw former Blue Colm Whelan net his tenth of the campaign for the Phibsborough outfit, with three goals in his last four games.
Thursday night saw Bohemians fall to a 2-0 defeat at home in Tallaght Stadium against FC Midtjylland of Denmark in their UEFA Conference League Third Qualifying Round first-leg, with attention now turning to league action against the Blues this weekend before Bohs travel to Denmark for the second-leg next Thursday which takes place at the impressive MCH Arena (6pm).
WATERFORD FC TEAM NEWS
Graham Coughlan will have to assess members of his playing side ahead of kick-off on Sunday, with Will Johnson forced off through injury early into the second-half last week against Shelbourne.
There are no long-term injuries for the Blues boss to contend with going into tomorrow’s clash against Bohemians.
New signing Noah Mawene made his debut for the Blues last weekend, impressing the Waterford support with his energetic performance in midfield.

“We were please with how last Sunday went for us. Of course there are things we can and have to improve on, but all in all, it was a pleasing performance from the squad.
This weekend against Bohemians will be another difficult game against a good side, a side who are battling at the latter stages of the Conference League qualifying rounds, so that proves just what sort of a challenge we will be up against this Sunday.
It’ll be a challenge, but one myself, our players & our coaching staff will relish. We’ve looked forward to these type of challenges lately, and we’ve done quite well in them, so we’ll be ready to take this one on once again on Sunday.”
