It’s a quick turnaround for the Blues as attention turns straight to our SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division clash against Galway United at the RSC this Monday, and we have all the information you need to know ahead of kick-off.
Waterford FC vs Galway United FC
SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division
Monday 19th October 2026
RSC, Waterford
7:45pm
WATERFORD FC
The Blues return back to the RSC for the first time in 35 days tomorrow night as we welcome Galway United to the RSC for fourth & final meeting between the sides this season.
In our most recent meeting at the RSC back in April, Dean McMenamy rescued a point for the Blues with a dramatic 96th minute equaliser against the Tribesmen, in what proved to be the last kick of the game in our 1-1 draw.
Most recently, Waterford suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat away to Bohemians on Friday night at Dalymount Park. After falling 1-0 behind, Pádraig Amond headed home Benny Couto’s corner-kick just before half-time to get us level at the break, before the hosts found the winner the second half.
With results elsewhere going against the Blues on Friday, Waterford head into Monday night’s game occupying the Promotion/Relegation Play-Off position, with 34 points to our name with three games remaining.

GALWAY UNITED FC
John Caulfield’s Galway United side make the journey down to the south east on Monday night on the back of picking up their first league win over Shamrock Rovers in over 20 years. A 2-0 win on Friday night at Eamonn Deacy Park against the league leaders moved Galway onto 41 points – seven clear of the Blues ahead of Monday’s clash.
In our meetings so far this year, the sides have drawn twice with Galway picking up one win over the Blues – a 4-3 win over Waterford at Terryland back in March.

WATERFORD FC TEAM NEWS
Graham Coughlan will assess his squad in training today ahead of Monday’s game against Galway United at the RSC.
Evan McLaughlin returned to the matchday squad for Friday’s trip to Dalymount, having missed our FAI Cup semi-final victory at Bohemians the week prior through suspension. Blair McKenzie missed Friday’s game in Dublin due to illness.
GRAHAM COUGHLAN’S THOUGHTS
“There’s three big games coming up for us – two at home this week coming & finishing away [at Shelbourne] – but I know our lads will give their all. There’s no panic within that dressing room. The squad are looking forward to tomorrow night to get things right. They always bounce back, and they’ll re-group together with a couple of big games at home coming up – starting with tomorrow night against Galway”.
