Waterford FC are delighted to announce that Zak O’Sullivan has penned his first professional contract with the Blues, on a multi-year deal with the club.
O’Sullivan joined the Blues from his schoolboy club Tramore AFC in 2019 for then our MU13 squad, coming up through the ranks of our Academy – most recently lining out for our MU20 side in this season’s EA Sports MU20 League of Ireland campaign.
Along with his academy involvement, Zak has been a regular name on the substitutes list for our Men’s First-Team this season, first being included in a League of Ireland matchday squad for our opening-weekend win away to Sligo Rovers FC back in February this year.
Zak made his first appearance for our First-Team last season in our Munster Senior Cup Final win over Kerry FC in Turners Cross, coming on as a second-half substitute as the Blues lifted their 16th Munster Senior Cup title.
O’Sullivan made two more appearances in this season’s Munster Senior Cup campaign – a start against Bandon AFC along with a substitute appearance against Rockmount AFC, whilst impressive for the club at Academy level.
Along with his club involvement, Zak’s ability has been noticed on the International stage where most recently he was named in Colin O’Brien’s 21-man squad for the Republic of Ireland’s U18 Men’s squad last November for International friendlies against Japan, Croatia & Portugal.
Zak has netted four goals for our MU20 side in 7 games so far in 2025, as the 18-year old continues to develop year-on-year.
Speaking on his new deal, the Blues number 29 was delighted to pen his future at the RSC, commenting:
“I’m incredibly excited to sign my first professional contract. It’s a dream come true, and a huge step in my football journey. I’m grateful for the support from my family, coaches, and teammates and looking forward to developing my football with this club.”
Waterford FC Academy Manager Mike Geoghegan also spoke of his delight for Zak signing his first professional contract with the club:
“We are delighted that Zak’s talent, hard work and performances have been rewarded with a professional contract. Zak joined us from Tramore AFC 6 years ago and has just improved year-on-year. He played for Ireland U18s this season, and there is more to come from him”.
Congratulations Zak!
