Stephen McMullan

ABOUT:

McMullan joined the Blues on-loan from Fleetwood Town FC ahead of the 2025 League of Ireland season.

Stephen came up through the ranks at Warrenpoint Town FC where he made his first-team debut at just 17 years of age. His progress caught the eyes of the Cod Army as he made the move to Highbury Stadium, where he amassed six appearances before heading on loan to Welsh outfit Caernarfon Town FC in July 2024 in a six-month deal.

The now 20-year-old has been called up to the Northern Ireland Senior Men’s team for a Nations League camp at the end of 2023, as McMullan will look to play an important role with the Blues in 2025.

Jason Healy

ABOUT:

Healy joined the Waterford FC Academy at Under-13 level from his schoolboy club Southend United FC, before going on to represent the Blues at every age group underage.

Jason made his first-team debut in our mid-season friendly against sister-club Fleetwood Town in July of 2023, before making his competitive debut in October of that year, coming on as a second-half substitute against Galway United.

The young keeper – who has been capped at U15, U16 & U17 level for the Republic of Ireland – penned his first professional contract with the club mid-way through the 2023 season.

Brad Wade

ABOUT:

Wade joined the Blues in January of 2025 after an impressive first year in the League of Ireland with Cork City in 2024.

The 24-year old came up through the Rochdale academy and spent time with their first-team during his stay at the Dale. After seven years with the club, he departed for Hereford FC, before also spending time with Southport FC & Guiseley AFC prior to his move to Cork City at the beginning of 2024.

Brad kept an impressive 20 clean sheets for City in 2024, as his impressive net minding helped guide Tim Clancy’s side to become First Division champions in a season where he became a fans favourite at the club during his time there.

Defenders

Navajo Bakboord

ABOUT:

Bakboord made the move to the RSC at the beginning of 2025, after having an impressive career to date.

The right-full came up through the iconic Ajax Academy in the Netherlands where he spent 12 years, before making a permanent move to Dutch side Heracles Almelo where he went on to make over 40 Eredivise appearances for the side.

Along with his impressive club experience, Navajo has enjoyed international football throughout his career to date, having come up through the underage levels of the Dutch National side from U15 right through to U20 where he picked up almost 50 caps for his country.

In 2023, Navajo became a senior international for South American country Suriname, where he has gone on to make 5 appearances to date in their CONCACAF Nations League & World Cup Qualifying campaigns respectively.

Ryan Burke

ABOUT:

Burke made the move to the RSC at the beginning of 2023, where he helped guide the Blues back to the Premier Division in his first year with the club.

The left-back came up through the ranks of Crumlin United before making the move across the Irish Sea to join Birmingham City where he played for their U18 & U23 sides, along with making a substitute appearance in their 2019/20 Championship campaign.

He made the move back home in June of 2022 where he played under the guidance of Keith Long at Bohemians, before making the switch to the RSC at the start of 2023.

Andy Boyle

ABOUT:

After a four-and-a-half year spell in Oriel Park with Dundalk FC, Boyle makes the move to the RSC ahead of the 2025 season to become the Blues’ first signing of the window.

Boyle began his career at Crumlin United before making the move to UCD & then Shelbourne, before signing for Dundalk in 2013 where he played a pivotal role in one of the most successful League of Ireland sides in recent years – as Boyle picked up a staggering four League of Ireland Premier Division titles alongside two FAI Cups.

Boyle’s club performances earned him his first international cap in March of 2017, with a second-half substitute appearance in the Republic of Ireland’s international friendly against Iceland at the Aviva Stadium.

The Dublin native also has two UEFA Europa League group stage appearances to his name from 2016/17 & 2020/21, where he played all twelve group-stage games across both years.

Grant Horton

ABOUT:

Horton made the move to the Blues at the beginning of the 2024 season, after coming up through the Cheltenham Town FC academy.

The 23-year-old spent the first-half of both 2022 & 2023 on loan at Dalymount Park with Bohemians, where he became a mainstay in the Bohs defence during both spells with the side, making over 30 appearances during his time there.

It was Keith Long who brought Horton to Dalymount Park initially at the beginning of 2022 while Long was Head Coach at the Phibsborough club, before bringing the central defender to the RSC at the start of 2024.

Darragh Leahy

ABOUT:

The 26-year-old defender joined the Blues at the start of the 2024 season for an undisclosed fee from Dundalk FC, where he spent the previous four years.

Leahy has a wealth of Premier Division experience, having spent the last four years with Dundalk FC – winning an FAI Cup during his time at Oriel Park, as well as spending two years prior to that at Dalymount Park with Bohemians under the guidance of now-Blues Head Coach Keith Long.

The left-footed defender can play either centre-half or as a left-back.

Kacper Radkowski

ABOUT:

Radkowski joined Waterford at the start of 2024, after spending the previous year on-loan at Bohemian FC from Polish outfit Slask Wroclaw.

The centre-back made over 30 appearances for the Blues in his first-year with the club, where his aggressive defending style along with his eye for a pass caught the eyes of the Blues supporters.

Midfielders

Rowan McDonald

ABOUT:

McDonald joined the Blues in summer of 2023, as he now spends his third season with the club.

The former Manchester City youth captain came up through the Manchester City academy, before departing after 11 years where he made the move to the RSC where he has played a pivotal role in the heart of the Waterford midfield since his move.

Ben McCormack

ABOUT:

McCormack joined the Blues ahead of the 2024 after spending over six years with St. Patrick’s Athletic where he made over 70 senior appearances.

Impressively, the Blues no.7 is still just 21-years-of-age, with a wealth of League of Ireland experience – including winning the FAI Cup with the Saints twice in 2021 & 2023.

McCormack’s close control & eye for a defence-splitting pass caught the eyes of Waterford FC supporters as he became a fan favourite in his first year with the Blues in 2024.

James Olayinka

ABOUT:

Olayinka made the move to the Blues at the start of 2025, after spending his entire career to-date in the UK.

The exciting midfielder came up through the Arsenal FC Academy, where he even made appearances for the Gunners in their 2019 pre-season trip in the USA, as well as netting a stunning strike against Colorado Rapids.

He spent time on loan at Southend United before a permanent move in 2022 to Cheltenham Town followed – where he was teammates with Grant Horton.

Kyle White

ABOUT:

White made the move to the RSC in the summer of 2024 on an 18-month contract from Fleetwood Town, where he spent three years before his move to the Blues.

White missed the majority of the second-half of the 2024 season due to a long-term hamstring injury he picked up in his first week with the Blues.

White is known for his impressing passing ability and his eye for goal, as he will give Keith Long another option in our midfield in 2025.

Sam Glenfield

ABOUT:

Glenfield spent the second-half of the 2024 on-loan with the Blues from Fleetwood Town, as his impressive second-half of the season earned him a permanent move to the club ahead of 2025.

A strong attacking midfield, not afraid of a goal or two, Glenfield will look to play an important role for the club in 2025.

Dean McMenamy

ABOUT:

Dean joined the Blues at the start of the 2023 season, as he was involved in our promotion-winning side as we defeated Cork City FC in the Promotion/Relegation Play-Off Final.

An energetic midfielder with a high attacking and defensive work-rate, he will look continue his impressive development to-date with the Blues in 2025.

Calum Costello

ABOUT:

Costello joined the Blues from Carrick United at U13 level in 2019, as he progressed through the ranks of our academy before signing his first professional contract with the club in 2024.

Costello netted the winning goal in the Blues’ 2024 Munster Senior Cup Final against Kerry FC as fans began to notice his ability that has been ever present in our academy for five years.

Calum remains part of our MU20 side for the 2025 season along with his first-team duties.

Attackers

Padraig Amond

ABOUT:

The experienced striker made the move back home at the beginning of 2024 after a stellar career abroad in the UK as well as a stint in Portugal.

Amond netted an impressive 16 goals in all competitions for the club in 2024 in his first-year back, as he was awarded with the League of Ireland Premier Division Top Goal Scorer for his efforts.

Matty Smith

ABOUT:

Smith returned to the Blues for his second-spell after putting pen to paper at the start of 2025.

Smith was first with the Blues in 2020 as he spent 12-months with the club before moving on where he played for St. Patrick’s Athletic, Derry City & most recently Shelbourne.

Smith has an FAI Cup and a Premier Division title to his name, as he looks to use that experience in Waterford in 2025.

Maarten Pouwels

ABOUT:

The attacker makes the move to the Emerald Isle after playing the majority of his career in his native Holland – with a one-year spell at Louisville City FC in the USL Championship (Second Tier of American football).

The 26-year-old is no stranger to finding the back of the net, becoming a regular goal scorer at all clubs he’s played it, with his presence in the box a dangerous utility to have for the Blues in 2025.

Tommy Lonergan

ABOUT:

Lonergan makes the move to the RSC having spent the last twelve months at Highbury Stadium, where he made 20 appearances for the Cod Army.

Tommy’s ability was noticed early in his career, as he was rewarded with an International call-up to the Republic of Ireland U16 side, and has progressed through the U18s, U19s & is now an U21 Irish international. To date, impressively Tommy has netted eight times for his country in 16 appearances across all age groups.

Trae Coyle

ABOUT:

Coyle makes the move to the RSC ahead of the 2025 season, having spent the last three-and-a-half years in Switzerland with FC Lausanne-Sport in the Swiss Super League.

The exciting winger began his career at the Arsenal academy, where he spent 11 years with the Gunners. During his time with the London giants, he made the loan move to EFL League One side Gillingham FC where he made 21 appearances with the Gills during the 2020/21 season.

The 21-year-old also has International experience, having made his international debut for the England U15 side – netting twice in four games. He followed this up with caps for their U16s & U17s in the following years as he made a strong impression whilst in the Gunners academy.
