Friday, August 18th
Kick Off: 7.45pm
Referee: Paula Brady

Waterford FC return to league action this Friday evening as third-placed UCD visit the RSC as the Blues look to continue their push for promotion with just five games remaining.

The Blues picked up a point in their last league outing after a 1-1 draw to Cabinteely, before last week’s cup exit at the hands of Shelbourne.

Visitors UCD are one of only two teams to beat the Blues in the league this season after a 3-2 win in the UCD Bowl in June. The Blues won the opening tie between the sides 2-0 before a 1-1 draw in the RSC.

The Blues sit seven points clear at the top of the table to Cobh Ramblers, and have a superior goal different to the second-placed side.

On-loan defender Sean Heaney says although the players are disappointed with the cup exit last weekend, the main aim remains the same:

“Obviously last week wasn’t in the script. It would have been nice to go on a cup run but when I came to the club I was told that the league was the main priority so we know, as a group, that objective is sill very much on.

“We’ve tried to forget about last week and all the lads have put their heads down and worked hard this week in training.”

Team News: Patrick McClean is ruled out with an injury sustained in last week’s cup exit while Sander Puri remains out but is back in training. Mark O’Sullivan continues to make good progress with a back strain but will be assessed ahead of kick off.
