SSE Airtricity Premier Division – Bohemian FC v Waterford FC

Monday, April 30, 2018
Kick Off: 7.45pm
Referee: Raymond Matthews
Waterford FC will make their first return to Dalymount Park to take on Bohemian FC in the league since losing 1-0 back in 2007 when the home side scored an early goal thanks to a strike from Darren Mansaram.

The Blues did win the most recent meeting between the two sides in the league this season as a lone goal from Sander Puri gave Alan Reynolds outfit all three points and his side will be hoping to get back to winning ways after dropping two points at home to Sligo Rovers on Friday night last.

Bohemian FC will go into this game full of confidence after they came from two goals down to grab a 2-2 draw against St. Patrick’s Athletic and will also be hoping to gain revenge for that earlier league defeat at the RSC so the Blues will have to bring their top game to the table.

However Blues boss Alan Reynolds will have to do without the services of Gavan Holohan and Dave Webster through suspension while John Kavanagh is ruled out through injury with Kenny Browne rated as highly doubtful after suffering a back injury in last Friday’s game against Sligo Rovers.

Speaking ahead of the game, Waterford FC manager Alan Reynolds said, “We failed to reach the high standards that we set ourselves against Sligo Rovers on Friday last so we’ll be hoping to response in this game against Bohemians.

“We know that they are going to be a tough side to beat especially at Dalymount Park so we’ll have to be at our best.  Our performance on Friday wasn’t to the same level and perhaps that was down to the fact that we had four midfield players that haven’t played in that system before.

“I think that we need to create more chances in games and hopefully if we can do that against Bohs than we can come out on the right side of the result.  It’s going to be difficult because they are a good side and they’ll be looking to build on their result last Friday against St. Pat’s.”

TEAM NEWS: Waterford FC will be without Gavan Holohan and David Webster who are both suspended. Holohan was given an additional one game suspension after his sending off against St. Patrick’s Athletic. John Kavanagh is ruled out again as he continues to recover from an injury picked up in a recent game while Kenny Browne also looks set to miss out after picking up a back injury in Friday’s draw with Sligo Rovers.
