SSE Airtricity League Premier Division
Waterford FC -v- St Patrick’s Athletic
Friday, July 5, 2019
Kick Off: 7.45pm
Referee: Sean Grant
Waterford FC welcome St. Patrick’s Athletic to the RSC this Friday night as the Blues look to make it three wins from three against their visitors this season.
After no games in five weeks, it’ll be game three in eight days this Friday as Alan Reynolds’ side come into the game on the back of a 3-0 defeat on Monday night away to league champions Dundalk. Despite falling behind in the second minute, the Blues battled all the way and struck the woodwork a number of times, but couldn’t get the better of Vinny Perth’s side.
The Blues and St Pats last met back at the beginning of May, when the Blues produced an excellent second-half performance to win 3-0 in Inchicore.
It was the Blues who came out on top the last time the sides met in the RSC too, as a brace of goals from Aaron Drinan saw Alan Reynolds’ side enjoy a win in front of a home crowd.
Manager View: Speaking before Friday’s visit of St Pats, manager Alan Reynolds said:
“Last Friday was a tough result to take against Bohs here at the RSC. It was a good performance so to lose in the last minute was tough to take. Monday’s game was a more difficult one. Credit to the players they had to work very hard against a Dundalk side who were just better on the night.
“We’ve had two good performances against St Pats this season already and we need that again. We’ve won both the games so far but that counts for nothing on Friday; we need to bring a high level of performance to the pitch and get our momentum moving forward.”
Team News: Waterford FC have doubts over Karolis Chvedukas, Bastien Hery and Kenny Browne. Sam Bone and Zack Elbouzedi miss out.
