SSE Airtricity League Premier Division
Waterford FC -v- Finn Harps
Friday, July 19, 2019
Kick Off: 8pm
Referee: Rob Hennessy

Waterford FC will look to build on last weekend’s performance away to Sligo when Finn Harps visit the RSC on Friday night.

Alan Reynolds’ side come into the game on the back of that good performance in The Showgrounds and a well-earned point in 0-0 draw against Sligo Rovers.

The Blues who came out on top the last time the sides met in the RSC with a 4-0 win over Ollie Horgan’s men. Goals from Shane Duggan, Dean Walsh and Aaron Drinan (2) secured the three points.

It was a different story in Finn Park as a late Sean Boyd goal handed the Finn Harps a 3-2 win, despite the Blues taking an early lead.

Finn Harps sit ten points behind the Blues in the current Premier Division standings.

Manager View: Speaking ahead of Friday’s match against Finn Harps, manager Alan Reynolds said:

I was happy to get a point last Saturday in Sligo after three defeats on the bounce. First half was good and second half we pushed on and could have won it. We needed a good performance and we want to bring that to the next couple of games starting Friday.

“The two games against Finn Harps have been very different so far. We controlled the game down here and won 4-0 but then lost to a late goal in Finn Park. We aren’t taking Harps for granted. We know they’ll compete well and we have to be ready to battle. We want the points and we want to build on a positive performance last Saturday.

“It’s [the result] even more important since our next five matches are all away from home. We have UCD, Derry City (twice) and Shamrock Rovers as well as away to Maynooth in the FAI Cup.”

Team News: Kevin Lynch, Zack Elbouzedi and Sam Bone are injured, while Cory Galvin is a doubt after last Saturday’s match in Sligo. Rob Slevin returns from international duty while Karolis Chvedukas returns from suspension. Rory Feely serves a one-match suspension.
