Extra.ie FAI Cup First Round
Maynooth University Town -v- Waterford FC
Sunday, August 11, 2019
Kick Off: 3pm
Referee: Rob Hennessy

Waterford FC return to cup action this Sunday as the Blues take on Maynooth University Town in the first round of the FAI Cup.

Alan Reynolds’ side travel to Rathcoffey Road for Sunday’s 3pm kick-off hoping they can put last Monday night’s EA SPORTS Cup Semi-Final result behind them after a 4-2 defeat to Derry City in the Brandywell.

Goals from Walter Figueira in either half weren’t enough for the Blues as an in-form David Parkhouse fired Derry through to the final after extra time.

Sunday will be the Blues’ fourth consecutive away match after trips to UCD and Derry on consecutive Mondays in the past two weeks.

Manager View: Speaking ahead of Sunday’s match, manager Alan Reynolds said:

“We’re really looking forward to Sunday’s game. It offers something different again to the last few weeks and we’re looking to progress.

“We gave a good account of ourselves in Derry last Monday in the EA SPORTS Cup so we’ll look to continue that this Sunday.

“We have a run of home league games to come too after a few weeks on the road but our focus is on Sunday and going through. We’ll make some changes but that focus doesn’t change; we want to be in the next round.

Team News: Sam Bone edges closer to fitness and is rated as 50/50, as is Karolis Chvedukas. Rob Slevin serves a one-match suspension after two yellow cards in Derry on Monday. Zack Elbouzedi came off during the Derry game and misses out this Sunday, while Will Fitzgerald continues to miss out.
