Waterford FC is delighted to announce that Kilian Cantwell has signed an extension to his contract to keep him at the club ahead of the 2023 League of Ireland First Division season.

Ten years on from playing for the club’s U19 team, Cantwell will be an important member of Danny Searle’s Blues squad for the 2023 promotion push.

The 27-year-old asserted himself as a regular in the Blues back four last season, following an early-season injury, captaining the side. Cantwell made 24 league appearances as the Blues finished second in the table before a play-off defeat.

Speaking to WaterfordFC.ie, Kilian said:

“I’m delighted to be back for next season. I really enjoyed my football here last year and I feel as if there is unfinished business to take care of.

“Our fans last year were excellent; it was brilliant to play in front of them week in and week out and I know they will be behind us again this coming season.

“Waterford FC is a massive club and it is heading in the right direction. There are some really good people working behind the scenes and I can’t wait to be a part of it again next season.”
