Munster Senior Cup Semi Final
Waterford FC -v- Cork City
Tuesday, 21st March 2023
Kick-Off: 7.45pm
Referee: Sean Grant
Waterford FC face Cork City this Tuesday in Ozier Park with a spot in the Munster Senior Cup final the prize for the victor.
The Blues comes into the game on the back of Saturday’s 2-2 draw at home to Bray Wanderers. Ronan Coughlan scored twice but the lead was halved before the break, with the Blues down to 10-men. Despite creating good chances after the break, the visitors snatched a point in the final quarter.
Cork City have had the better of the recent clashes, winning on their two visits to Waterford last season.
The Blues beat Midleton FC in the last round, 2-1 at the RSC, to advance to Tuesday’s semi final.
From The Dugout: Speaking ahead of Tuesday’s match, Head Coach Danny Searle said:
“We got off to an amazing start on Saturday but the sending off kills us. He’s held his hands up and the lads have dug him by out holding onto a point. Tuesday is now the focus.
“We’ve got a lot of players who need minutes and they’ll be involved as well as utilising the Under-19s too so we can see more of them. It’s a great chance for players to stake a claim for a spot in the team too so we’ll treat the game right.”
Team News: Matthew Connor continues his recovery from injury.
