Waterford FC is teaming up with Waterford Food Bank and Mount Sion CBS Secondary School’s Amber Flag Committee for a food drive this March.
Waterford Food Bank deliver food parcels to approximately 220 families per week in Waterford city and expect this number to increase over the Easter period! The school holidays are times of increased pressure on the food bank so all food donations are very welcome, particularly items such as tinned meat and fish, tinned fruit and veg as well as pasta sauces.
Organised with the assistance of Colin Power from Waterford FC, this food drive will run until Friday the 31st March when donations will be collected from Mount Sion CBS.
Members of the Amber Flag Committee will then join forces with the Waterford Food Bank in the RSC to accept further donations from match goers as The Blues take on Finn Harps!
Marc O’Donovan-Wyatt, Waterford FC Chief Operating Officer, said:
“The community is at the core of everything that we do and we take that responsibility seriously.
“There are many challenges facing our society and this shows what we can do when we work together. We need to continue to build these partnerships in the community to build the solutions for the community, together.
“We’re very proud of Colin and proud to enhance our partnership with Waterford Food Bank and Mount Sion with such an important initiative. We at Waterford FC are delighted to play our part in the community, anyway that we can.”
