Waterford FC is delighted to announce that Rowan McDonald has signed a new contract at the club.
The former Manchester City youth captain joined the Blues in August and played a pivotal role as Keith Long’s side won promotion to the Premier Division.
McDonald, who can play in defence and midfield, recovered from injury to help guide the Blues back to the top flight, with some crucial performances in the heart of midfield.
The Oldham-born, 22-year-old came up through the Manchester City academy and captained their Premier League U18 Cup team’s success in 2019.
Speaking to Waterfordfc.ie, Rowan said:
“I’m delighted to have signed a new contract and finally get it done. The plans in place at the club is something that excites me and obviously being in the Premier Division is where the club belongs.
“There is real excitement around Waterford since the play-off final – all the fans that travelled and got us over the line.
“I’m really looking forward to getting going again next season. I think it’s good to have momentum going into a season, and we definitely have that from getting promoted.”
