Waterford FC’s Ryan Burke is hoping to build on a successful 2023 as he looks forward to Premier Division football with the Blues in 2024.
The defender joined the club at the beginning of the 2023 and played an important part in the Blues promotion season.
Burke, who was selected in the PFA Ireland Men’s First Division Team of the Year 2023, as voted by the players, is looking forward to the challenge ahead this season.
“We all know the challenge of next season playing in the Premier Division. Everybody knows it’s a very strong league but it’s a challenge I’m really looking forward to.
“We have got a great bunch of lads, and a very good coaching staff who have plenty of experience of the Premier Division, which is excellent and we know how important that will be.”
Burke’s first season at the club saw him make almost 40 appearances; a season the Dubliner thoroughly enjoyed.
“I absolutely loved my time here last year, it was a great year and we achieved what we set out to do in getting promotion back to the Premier Division.
“The fans are quality and I’m really looking forward to playing in front of a packed RSC every week again.
“I’m delighted we could bring back Premier Division football for them and the club.
With fixtures out next week and pre-season commencing shortly, Burke is ready to go.
“It’s a really exciting time for the club. I think we will only get stronger and have a successful season next year.”
