Forward Romeo Akachukwu has been called up to the Republic of Ireland Under-19s squad for two friendlies ahead of next season’s U19 EURO Qualifiers.

Akachukwu has featured five times in the League of Ireland Premier Division for the Blues’ first team during the 2024 campaign. Last season, the Blues number 23 scored a second-half-hat-trick in the League of Ireland First Division playoff semi-final to send Waterford FC to the playoff final.

The 17-year-old made his debut for the national team’s youth side at Under-16 level in the 3-2 win against Macedonia Under-16s, Akachukwu went on to make number of appearances for the Under-17s before being called up to the Under-19s last September.

The young attacking midfielder has scored three times for the Republic of Ireland youth set including an incredible goal against Wales Under-19s in May 2023. Watch the strike below.
