After nearly three-weeks away from home, the Blues return to the RSC this Friday as Keith Long’s side welcome Sligo Rovers FC in their latest SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division clash, and we have all the details you need ahead of the game.

Fixture: Waterford FC vs Sligo Rovers FC

Competition: SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division

Date: 29th March 2024

Venue: RSC

WATERFORD FC

After facing four of our opening six games away on the road this season, the Blues welcome Sligo Rovers for their third home game of their 2024 SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division campaign.

The Blues have picked up eight points from their first six games back in the top-flight of Irish football – with half of them points coming from our two home games (A 1-1 draw against Shelbourne, before a 3-1 victory of St. Patrick’s Athletic).

This game is the Blues’ first game back after the opening international break of the League of Ireland season. A strong performance in Oriel Park a fortnight ago against Dundalk FC in our final game before the international break saw the Blues pick up a point in an entertaining 0-0 draw.

It’s a quick turnaround for the Blues over this Easter weekend, with a home double header in store at the RSC when Shamrock Rovers come to the RSC on Easter Monday after the Sligo Rovers fixture this coming Friday.

Sligo Rovers FC

The Bit o’Red make the long journey down south to the RSC this Friday for the clash against the Blues. After recruiting strongly in the off-season, Sligo occupy third place in the SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division table – sitting a point ahead of Waterford on nine points after six games played.

John Russell’s squad has been bolstered with the returning faces of Max Mata & Ed McGinty coming back into the side to strengthen both ends of the pitch for Sligo.

The Bit o’Red have picked up some impressive results this season – most notably a 5-0 win away to Dundalk at the beginning of this month, and they will look to continue their recent good run of form against the Blues this Friday.

Waterford FC Team News:

Harvey Macadam & Barry Baggley are both doubts for the game. Darragh Leahy returns from suspension, while Darragh Power is fit for selection after missing the game in Dundalk before the international break due to a hamstring issue.
