Five of our academy teams were in action over the weekend just gone, with reports available for each game below:

SATURDAY

MU20: UCD AFC 2-1 Waterford FC

Our MU20 side suffered defeat on the road on Saturday afternoon, as they fell to defeat away to UCD AFC at the UCD Bowl.

The Blues opened the scoring through Zak O’Sullivan on 36 minutes, before a goal either side of half-time saw the hosts pick up all three points.

WU17: Waterford FC 4-2 Shelbourne FC

Our WU17 had an excellent win at home to Shelbourne FC at SETU Arena on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Dublin outfit by four goals to two.

Zara Corcoran, Olivia Shannon & Issy Keena put the Blues into a three-nil lead before half-time, before the visitors pulled one back with 15 minutes remaining.

Emma Bibby added a fourth with ten minutes to go, before Shelbourne netted a second in the closing minutes.

MU14: Waterford FC 2-3 St. Patrick’s Athletic FC

Our MU14’s welcomed St. Patrick’s Athletic to SETU Arena on Saturday, as the hosts narrowly prevailed on a 3-2 score line.

Temmy Gazal opened the scoring for the Blues after 10 minutes, before the visitors equalised through the penalty spot.

Gazal again netted for the Blues just before the hour mark to give Waterford the lead once more, before a quickfire double for St. Pats turned the game around and secured the points for the Inchicore side.

SUNDAY

MU17: Waterford FC 3-2 Bray Wanderers FC

Our MU17 side picked up all three points in their clash against Bray Wanderers at SETU Arena on Sunday afternoon, defeating the Leinster side by three-goals-to-two.

After falling behind, Fidel Pululu equalised for the Blues right on the stroke of half-time, before Aaron Cass & Adam Dobbyn both netted inside the opening twenty minutes of the second-half to give the Blues a comfortable lead.

The visitors pulled one back, but proved too little as the Blues saw out the remainder of the game to pick up a valuable three-points.

WU19: Waterford FC 6-0 Cobh Ramblers FC

Our WU19’s produced a six-goal display at home to Cobh Ramblers in their LOI Academy WU19 league meeting to pick up an important three points.

Mia Lenihan opened the scoring early on for the Blues through the penalty spot, before Fiana Bradley stole the show scoring an impressive hat-trick. Cliona Kearney also got her name on the scoresheet with a quickfire brace just after the hour mark, as the Blues comfortably got past the challenge of Cobh.
