Five our our academy sides were in action over the weekend just gone, with reports available on each of the games below!

SATURDAY

MU20 – Waterford FC 1-2 Wexford FC

Our MU20 side suffered late heartbreak on Saturday afternoon, as a 90th minute strike saw Wexford FC steal the points at SETU Arena.

Shayne McDonald opened the scoring after just seven minutes for the Blues, getting on the end of Callum Flynn’s cross. The visitors equalised with twenty minutes remaining, before an injury-time winner saw the points go to the Ferrycarrig side.

WU17 – Shelbourne FC 3-4 Waterford FC

Our WU17s came out on top of a seven-goal thriller on Saturday to secure three valuable points away to Shelbourne FC in Dublin in their WU17 league meeting.

Issy Walsh & Issy Kenna had the Blues two-nil ahead, before a quickfire double from the hosts levelled proceedings.

The Blues got a foothold in the game once more, as Sarah Abullo & Cliodhna Malone regained a two-goal cushion for Waterford, before a late goal for the opposition saw the Blues edge the game by a single goal.

SUNDAY

WU19 – Waterford FC 1-1 Treaty United FC

Our WU19s maintained their unbeaten start to their WU19 Tier Two campaign with a point at home to Treaty United on Sunday afternoon.

Catheranne Fitzgerald opened the scoring after 20 minutes, firing home after excellent play from Fianna Bradley & Lillie Holloway, before the visitors drew level on 26 minutes.

MU17 – Waterford FC 1-3 Shamrock Rovers FC

Our MU17 side fell to defeat at home to Shamrock Rovers FC on Sunday afternoon in their MU17 Tier Two meeting at SETU Arena.

The Blues broke the deadlock after just six minutes through Alex Sheehan, before the visitors scored three unanswered goals to secure the points.

MU14 – Cork City FC 3-0 Waterford FC

Our MU14s fell to a three-nil defeat away to Cork City in their MU14 Group A Phase 2 meeting. Despite the score line, our lads gave a good account of themselves against a strong Cork side.
