We are delighted to announce that Darragh Leahy has penned a new deal to extend his stay at the RSC for 2025.
Leahy, who joined the Blues at the beginning of 2024, has committed his future to Waterford FC after an impressive first year with the Blues.
The 26-year-old made 36 appearances in all competitions for Keith Long’s side last year, with his physicality & ball playing ability crucial to our defensive stability in 2024.
Leahy, who previously lined-out for Dundalk FC in the UEFA Europa League group stages in 2020, became a mainstay in the heart of the Blues defence in 2024, quickly became favoured by the Waterford supporters for his work ethic on the pitch, as the Blues ended the season in 7th position in the SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division.
Leahy’s two goals in 2024 came in the same night against Drogheda United at Weavers Park in our second game of the season, as Leahy’s brace inspired the Blues to a dominant 4-1 win away from home – our first win of the year.
Speaking to waterfordfc.ie after putting pen to paper on a new deal, Leahy said:
“I’m delighted to be here again next year, it was a no brainer for me. I have really enjoyed my time here at Waterford so far, and most importantly I’m back enjoying my football again. We’ll look to kick on again next season after a good first year back in the Premier Division and see where that takes us.”
