Waterford FC are excited to announce that Dean McMenamy has agreed to extend his stay at the club ahead of the 2025 League of Ireland season.

After joining the Blues at the start of the 2023 season, McMenamy now heads into his third year with Keith Long’s side following an extension to his contract.

Having come up through the ranks of the Shamrock Rovers academy, the Dublin native moved to Longford Town on loan for the 2022 First Division season, before earning a permanent move to the Blues at the end of 2022.

McMenamy has become a fans favourite at the club for his stylish attacking threat, along with his work ethic across the Blues midfield, having been named the 2024 Waterford FC Young Player of the Year for his impressive performances throughout the year.

McMenamy has made over 60 appearances for the Blues since his move to the south-east, with 32 of those coming in 2024 in the Premier Division alone.

Dean found the back of the net three times last season, with his most notable goal coming against his former club Shamrock Rovers in Tallaght back in May, as his strike helped Waterford to an impressive 3-1 away-win against the then-reigning champions.

After helping the Blues earn promotion in 2023 & helping the club earn seventh position in the 2024 Premier Division, McMenamy will look to play an important role in 2025 for Keith Long’s side.

Speaking to waterfordfc.ie on signing a new deal with the Blues, McMenamy said:

“I’m delighted to get the new deal done, and to be back at Waterford for another season. I’ve been here for the last 2 seasons – from getting promoted & staying up last season I’ve loved every minute of it.

I’m looking forward to next season, especially with us having a good season this year. We just want to build on that & kick on, and hopefully do something special next year.”
