Fresh from joining the Blues, Stephen McMullan sat down with us to chat about joining the club for the 2025 season on-loan from Fleetwood Town.
“I’m buzzing to be here, really looking forward to get going. I’ve heard nothing but good things about the club, and I’m just raring to go now. Every club I play for my main aim is to play games and show people what I can do. That’s my main aim, to come and play well, and show people what I’m made of.”
When asked on how his time with Caernarfon Town FC in the Welsh Premier Division, Stephen spoke highly on his time with the Welsh club, commenting: “Again I’ve nothing but good things to say about Caernarfon. Great people and great fans. I loved every minute of my time there. I done quite well in the games I’ve played there too, so I’m looking forward to bringing that experience over here now and show the Waterford fans what I can do.”
When speaking on the facilities here at Waterford, McMullan was full of praise: “The facilities when I came over here with Fleetwood in pre-season were class. Loved every bit of it – from the vibe, the people around the club, all really welcoming and really friendly – so I’m really looking forward to get going here now with the Blues for the year ahead”
We asked him what type of a player would he best describe himself as: “I’m quite confident, it comes from on the training pitch daily with habits & routines. I really proud of myself on my work. I keep doing the same things every day, to bring it into my game to be consistent. I think they’re the main attributes for what any manager wants in a ‘keeper”.
Getting to work daily with Brian Murphy is something that Stephen is really looking forward to doing this year, mentioning “When I was speaking to him first about coming over to the club, he was a real selling point. His guidance, his experience speaks for itself. I’m really looking forward to getting to work with him and the rest of the lads around the group”.
