It’s a quick turnaround for the Blues, as John Coleman’s side go in search of back-to-back home wins against Dublin opposition this weekend, as Waterford welcome Shelbourne FC to the RSC for our SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division meeting, and we have everything you need to know ahead of kick-off!

Waterford FC vs Shelbourne FC

SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division

RSC, Waterford

WATERFORD FC

The Blues head into Monday evening’s game on the back of an impressive 2-1 win over Alan Reynold’s Bohemian FC on Friday night at the RSC.

As the game looked to head into the break scoreless, two goals in quick succession from Pádraig Amond & Conan Noonan gave us a two-nil lead at the break.

The visitors pulled one back mid-way through the second-half, as the Blues saw the game out to pick up an important set of three points.

This win leaves the Blues in 8th position in the league table on 26 points, extending the gap from the bottom two while closing in on those above us.

John Coleman was in attendance in the Blues’ last encounter with Shelbourne, as Pádraig Amond’s third-minute header gave the Blues all three-points in Tolka Park against the reigning Champions of Ireland.

SHELBOURNE FC

2025 has been a difficult season for Shelbourne, struggling to reach the heights they peaked at in 2024.

The Drumcondra-based side make the journey down to the RSC on Monday looking to forget about Friday evening’s disappointing 1-0 defeat to Derry City in Tolka Park.

Michael Duffy’s stunning left-footed strike gave Damien Duffs side their sixth loss of the season, as they currently find themselves in fifth position in the SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division table – just four points ahead of the Blues with two more games played than John Coleman’s side.

TEAM NEWS

The Blues escaped Friday’s fixture without adding any further names to the injury list.

Andy Boyle returned to the matchday squad on Friday night, having missed our last seven league games with a hamstring issue.

JOHN COLEMAN’S THOUGHTS

“It’s a massive game tomorrow night, that’s where our focus is now. We enjoyed Friday night, but once it came around to Saturday morning, we were planning what we’re set to encounter with Shelbourne at the RSC.”
