The Blues return to the road this Friday, as we travel to Sullivan & Lambe Park to take on Drogheda United FC in our latest SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division game of the 2025 season.
After a 2-0 defeat last weekend at home to St. Patrick’s Athletic FC, the Blues will go in search of a positive result at the hands of the reigning FAI Cup champions this Friday night.
In Waterford’s last outing on the road a fortnight ago, John Coleman’s side picked up their first win away to Galway United in 18 years with a dominant 4-2 win in Eamonn Deacy Park. Pádraig Amond netted his 11th & 12th of the season, whilst an own goal & a Conan Noonan finish gave the Blues an important set of three points.
The Blues sit in seventh position in the league table going into Friday’s game, with 33 points to our name from 26 games player, as we head into the final 10 league games of the campaign.
DROGHEDA UNITED FC
Drogheda United have been the surprise package of the Premier Division this year, as the reigning FAI Cup champions sit in an impressive fourth position in the league table heading into Friday night’s game.
The Louth side defeated Bohemian FC on the road last Friday thanks to a late Josh Thomas goal in the 86th minute to give Kevin Doherty’s side their tenth win of the season.
With just five losses to their name in 2025, Drogheda will look to add to their already points total of 41 tomorrow night against the Blues.
TEAM NEWS
Jordan Rossiter has recovered from his knock he picked up last Sunday against St. Patrick’s Athletic. Kacper Radkowski & Matty Smith remain absent through injury, while nobody misses the game due to suspension tomorrow night.

“Drogheda have been very, very successful at what they do. I thought it was a class performance last weekend againts Bohs. Both teams stuck to their principles, and one was going to come out on top, so you’ve just got to applaud that, because the game plan worked to a certain extent. So we’ve got to be mindful of what our game plan is, because I’m trying to do to them what they did to Bohs.”
