Waterford FC vs Shamrock Rovers FC

SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division

Monday 22nd September

RSC, Waterford

7:45pm

WATERFORD FC

The Blues host the Hoops for their fourth & final meeting of the 2025 League of Ireland season, as Waterford look to overcome Friday night’s defeat on the road against Bohemian FC at Dalymount Park.

Waterford suffered defeat against Shamrock Rovers at the RSC back in May, despite taking the lead early on. A sensational header from Blues skipper Pádraig Amond was cancelled out by Rory Gaffney, before Michael Noonan& Graham Burje’s second-half strikes secured the points for the visitors.

John Coleman’s Blues will look to pick up their first win over Stephen Bradley’s side this season on Monday night, as the Blues go in search of an important set of three points against the current league leaders.

Waterford currently sit in 7th position in the league table going into Monday’s game, with 34 points to our name.

SHAMROCK ROVERS FC

Shamrock Rovers make the journey down to Munster for the second time in four days, having travelled to Turners Cross on Friday evening where the Hoops were held to a 1-1 draw against Cork City – with Darragh Crowley firing in a 93rd minute equaliser for City against the Hoops.

Stephen Bradley’s side are unbeaten in nine games having last been defeated by Bohemian FC in June (2-1), with the Hoops having an FAI Cup semi-final to look forward next month after dramatically defeating Drogheda United on penalties a fortnight ago in Sullivan & Lambe Park, where they will host Kerry FC on Sunday 5th October in Tallaght Stadium.

Shamrock Rovers sit at the head of the Premier Division table going into Monday’s game, with 57 points to their name from 29 games played.
