Waterford FC are thrilled to announce that Dean McMenamy has put pen to paper to remain a Blue ahead of the 2026 League of Ireland season.

After joining the Blues at the start of the 2023 season, McMenamy now heads into his fourth consecutive year with the Blues following an extension to his contract.
Having come up through the ranks of the Shamrock Rovers academy, the Dublin native moved to Longford Town on loan for the 2022 First Division season, before earning a permanent move to the Blues at the end of 2022.
McMenamy has become known for his stylish attacking threat, along with his work ethic across the Blues midfield, was named the 2024 Waterford FC Young Player of the Year for his impressive performances throughout the Blues’ first year back in the top flight of Irish football.
Dean made a further impact on the Blues in 2025, helping Waterford maintain their Premier Division status after our Promotion/Relegation Play-Off win over Bray Wanderers – where Dean played an important role alongside James Olayinka in the Blues midfield in Tolka Park earlier this month.
McMenamy has made over 90 appearances for the Blues since his move to the south-east at the end of 2022, as Dean will look to play another important role with the Blues in 2026.
After committing his future to the Blues, McMenamy spoke of his delight to remain a Blue in 2026, saying:
“Delighted to be back with the club for another year. I’m excited to get going and play under Jon & in front of the fans once again with a big year ahead of us.”
