Waterford FC are delighted to announce the re-signing of Issy Walsh ahead of the 2026 SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division.
Walsh was called-up to our first-team last May, netting twice for Gary Hunt’s side, as she returns for 2026.
The attacker joined the Blues’ WU17 side in 2024 from Cushinstown AFC in Wexford, as she quickly established herself as a key name in the Blues academy.
After earning Waterford FC’s WU17 Player of the Year in 2024, she followed up in 2025 by making her first-team debut at home to Peamount United at the RSC.
She netted her first senior goal for the club against Wexford FC in September, and also scored in our penultimate home game of the season against Shamrock Rovers.
Now re-signed for 2026, Walsh will look to play a key role in the Waterford attack over the coming year.
Blues Head Coach Gary Hunt is delighted to have Walsh signed for 2026, saying:
“Issy has been a breath of fresh air since her introduction to the senior panel last season. Her performances showed that once she got into the side she stayed in and I am looking forward to seeing how she takes to the new season.
Her attacking contribution stands out but she is someone who will put in the hard work and help out the team defensively and although her quiet personality off the pitch, she has no problem giving and taking contact in games.
This is another great example of the good work being done in the club in our younger teams.”
