WATERFORD FC
Jon Daly’s Blues welcome Drogheda United to the RSC for our sixth home league game of the 2026 season, looking to build on last weekend’s draws at home to Shamrock Rovers on Friday night and away to Bohemians on Monday afternoon.
Pádraig Amond gave Waterford the lead with twenty minutes remaining at the RSC last Friday against Shamrock Rovers, before Graham Burke secured a point for the Hoops with ten minutes remaining. On Monday, a first-half header from John Mahon saw cancelled out by Colm Whelan’s spot-kick inside the final twenty minutes as the Blues had to settle for two points over the Easter weekend.
Our last home fixture against Drogheda United took place last October, as second-half goals from Tommy Lonergan & Jesse Dempsey (Jesse’s first senior goal) gave the Blues an important 2-0 win against the louth outfit.

DROGHEDA UNITED FC
Kevin Doherty’s side travel to the RSC on Friday evening looking for their first win in nine games, having drawn four and lost four of their last eight games ahead of tomorrow’s clash against the Blues.
Drogheda started the season with two back-to-back wins – an opening day win away to Galway United before defeating the Blues by two-goals-to-nil on March 13th at Sullivan & Lambe Park thanks to two goals inside the opening ten minutes from Shane Farrell & Mark Doyle.
The Drogs sit in eighth position in the Men’s Premier Division table going into Friday’s meeting with the Blues, with 10 points to their name from their opening 10 games played.

WATERFORD FC TEAM NEWS
Jon Daly will have to assess Conan Noonan, John Mahon & Evan McLaughlin ahead of kick-off on Friday night, after the trio were all forced off on Monday evening against Bohemians after picking up knocks in-game.
Tommy Lonergan is in contention to be involved in the matchday squad, having recovered from the knock he picked up whilst on international duty with the Republic of Ireland U21s last week.
Stephen McMullan, Sam Glenfield & Finlay Armstrong all remain on the injured list and will miss Friday’s game.
JON DALY’S THOUGHTS
“I believe if we can bring the same levels we’ve shown in the last two games then we can get that win on Friday. It will be a difficult task – Drogheda will pose different problems for us. They’ll be a real threat from set-plays, and they’ve got a fantastic delivery from them in Brandon Kavanagh. They have a number of targets in their team that can score goals. We’ll have to be vigilant throughout the game on Friday, and it’s important we don’t give up opportunities because a team like Drogheda can hurt us.”

EVAN MCLAUGHLIN’S THOUGHTS
“The last two games we’ve had positives results against two good sides [in Shamrock Rovers & Bohemians], and now we’re just looking to build on that this week against Drogheda. We know we can go toe-to-toe with anyone in this league, so it’s about putting everything into the game tomorrow night.
