Waterford FC can announce that CEO Steve Curwood will depart the club later this month ahead of a move to English Championship side Blackburn Rovers.
Steve has played an important role in the development and progression of Waterford FC during his time with the club, supporting the continued growth of the organisation both on and off the pitch and helping strengthen links across the wider football group.
Everyone at Waterford FC would like to place on record their sincere thanks to Steve for his contribution and wish him every success in his new role.
Following Steve’s departure, Owner Jamie Pilley will continue to oversee the club at a strategic and high-level decision-making level, with Chief Operating Officer Richy Walsh continuing to lead the day-to-day running of Waterford FC and all club operations.
The club will also continue to be supported by the senior leadership team at Fleetwood Town, with Head of Football Will Watt providing support across football operations and strategic football matters, alongside COO Ryan Vaughan, who will provide support across operational, commercial and business functions.
The structure ensures continuity, stability and continued alignment across the wider football group as Waterford FC looks ahead to the future.
Jamie Pilley, Owner, said:
“Steve has made a valuable contribution to Waterford FC and we would like to thank him for his commitment and hard work during his time with the club. On behalf of everyone connected with Waterford FC, we wish him every success at Blackburn Rovers.
“We have a strong leadership structure in place which provides continuity and stability moving forward. Richy Walsh will continue leading the club on a day-to-day basis and has done an outstanding job in driving standards and operations locally.
“We are also fortunate to have the support and experience of our senior team at Fleetwood Town, ensuring Waterford FC remains well supported across both football and business operations as we continue building for the future.”
