Graham Coughlan’s side have continued their strong run of form with a comprehensive 3-0 win over Sligo Rovers at the RSC last weekend in their Club Orange Men’s FAI Cup quarter-final clash, making it 11 games unbeaten in all competitions (8 wins, 3 draws).
Pádraig Amond broke the deadlock after just eight minutes, before a quick-fire double in the second half from Tommy Lonergan & an Ollie Denham own-goal secured the Blues’ place in the last four of this years FAI Cup, with the task of travelling to Dalymount Park to face Bohemians in the way of the Blues’ first FAI Cup final appearance since 2004.
Waterford’s most recent meeting against Dundalk came at the end of June at Oriel Park, where the Blues dramatically came from 2-0 down after half an hour to pick up three crucial points with a stunning turnaround. Lonergan netted brace – one either side of half time – before John Mahon came up with the unlikely winner with four minutes remaining of normal time.

DUNDALK FC
The Lilywhites make the journey down to the RSC on Friday looking to return to winning ways, after falling to a 4-2 defeat away to Derry City in their Club Orange Men’s FAI Cup last Sunday afternoon.
In their last league outing, Dundalk secured all three points in the most dramatic of fashion against old rivals Drogheda United in Sullivan & Lambe Park in their final Louth derby of the season. An 89th minute free kick from Daryl Horgan found the top corner of Luke Dennison’s goal to secure the points for Ciarán Kilduff’s side.
Dundalk head into Friday night’s fixture in fourth position in the league table on 40 points from their 29 games played so far in 2026.

WATERFORD FC TEAM NEWS

GRAHAM COUGHLAN’S THOUGHTS
“Friday night is going to be a massive challenge. You have one of the strongest teams in the league in Dundalk coming down here going head-to-head with us. We’re looking for the three points as will they be. Our focus is always on the next game. There’s three points available on Friday, so it’s about believing in ourselves on Friday night, and if we do then I feel we can win any game of football. “
