Waterford FC’s Dean McMenamy is looking forward to a big year for the club as the midfielder embarks on his second season at the club.
Following promotion to the Premier Division, the Blues are eagerly awaiting the release of fixtures with McMenamy excited to get going.
“I think next year will be a big year for the club back in the Premier Division, where it belongs,” McMenamy said. “It’s going to be an exciting season for everyone involved around the club and we can’t wait for it.
The 21-year-old joined the club from Shamrock Rovers ahead of the 2023 season, following a loan spell at Longford Town, and says the buzz around the city and county is great to see.
“We have good momentum going into next season, having won promotion against Cork.
“There’s a good buzz around the club and all around Waterford after getting promoted, so we’re excited for what next year brings in the Premier Division.”
With over 1,000 season tickets already sold ahead of the new season, McMenamy knows the Blues need to build on 2023 and believes the squad can, with the help of the vital Blues support as seen home and away last season.
“We have to build on from last season,” McMenamy said, after making 28 appearances last season. “The end of last season was very good for us; getting promoted through the Play Offs after coming through the four games.
“The brilliant fans were there when we needed them, helping us to get over the line, after sticking with us all season; it was unbelievable, and we know we’ll have them right behind us again next season.”
“I can’t wait to get back into it and get going next season.”
