Defender Darragh Power is looking to push on in 2024 after playing an important role in the Blues Promotion triumph despite an injury-hit season.

The defender made 21 appearances throughout the season, coming back from injury to help the Blues to promotion back to the Premier Division.

Power came through the club’s U-17 and U-19 teams, winning the U19 league with the Academy team in 2019, to become an integral part of the Blues first team squad.

“I had a tough year personally with injury,” Darragh said, “but the only thing that kept me going was the opportunity to get back for the playoffs.

“Thankfully I did.

“It was great to have that to aim for and I was buzzing to play a part in getting the club back up to where it belongs. Our target at the start of the season was to push for promotion and we’re delighted to have got there.”

Power has made over 100 first team appearances, including two seasons in the Premier Division, and is looking forward to getting back on the pitch in front of the Blues fans.

“I can’t wait to get started again. We enjoyed the promotion celebrations but now I’m looking forward to being back playing in front of the amazing Blues fans again.

“They followed us all over the country last season, so to be able to give them Premier Division football this season is fantastic.”

With the fixtures released on December 15th, Power is looking forward to the challenge ahead.

“We know in the Premier Division we’re going to be up against some really good players and teams but we’re looking forward to it. This is where we want to play and we’ll take on any challenge in front of us.

“We have experience with players like Niall [O’Keeffe] and myself who’ve played in the Premier Division when we were there a few years back, so we’ll relish the opportunity to do our best for this club going forward into 2024.”
