Sam Glenfield has been called-up to the Northern Ireland U21-side for their upcoming 2025 European Championship qualifiers against England & Ukraine this weekend.

After an impressive start to life with the Blues since joining on loan from Fleetwood Town FC in July, Sam Glenfield has been rewarded with a late call-up to Tommy Wright’s 23-man squad for their upcoming European Championship qualifiers at home to both England & Ukraine.

Glenfield has made six appearances for Keith Long’s side since his move, along with scoring a stunning strike to secure three points for the Blues away to Bohemians at Dalymount Park at the beginning of August.

Sam joins Barry Baggley in the Northern Ireland U21-squad, after Barry was named in the initial squad before Sam received his late call-up.

Northern Ireland sit in fourth place in Group F on their 2025 European Championship qualifying group, with six points to their name after six matches, ahead of the visit of the groups top-two sides to Northern Ireland over the coming week.

They welcome England to Ballymena on Friday evening (6th September) in a 7:45pm kick-off – an England side that has stars such as James Trafford, Lewis Hall, Jarrell Quansah, Harvey Elliott, Adam Wharton & Omari Hutchinson in their ranks for the clash.

On Tuesday (10th September) they welcome Ukraine’s U21 side to round-up their camp for this international break.

Congratulations Sam!
