Central-defender Adam Queally has today joined First Division outfit Wexford FC on a season-long loan for the 2025 League of Ireland season.
The 18-year old has progressed through the Blues underage academy since joining at U13 level, before signing his first professional contract with the club in the summer of 2023.
Queally has been a mainstay in the heart of the defence in each of the academy age-groups with his commanding presence & leadership skills present throughout.
Adam has represented the Republic of Ireland at U16 & U17 in recent years, before making his first-team debut for the Blues in June of 2023, coming off the bench as Waterford defeated Finn Harps six-one at the RSC.
2024 saw Queally start each game in our Munster Senior Cup winning-season, which culminated in our 2-1 win against Kerry FC in Turners Cross earlier this year, along with playing 17 games for our MU20 side over the last 12 months.
Adam now makes the move to Ferrycarrig Park for the 2025 campaign, as he looks to continue his development with regular first-team experience.
Waterford FC Head Coach Keith Long spoke about how important first-team minutes are for Adam at this stage in his career, saying:
“It’s a good loan move for Adam, he needs first-team football for his development. We feel in order for him to progress his career, he needs to be challenged at a greater level than he currently is with the MU20’s. He’s spent the last 18-months in around our first-team, so we feel at this point it’s the next phase in his development to go out on loan with Wexford.
Hopefully he’ll get plenty of minutes under his belt & come back to us a much better player as a result of his loan period at Wexford FC”.
Best of luck, Adam!
