Waterford FC are delighted to announce the signing of exciting midfielder Conan Noonan on a season-long loan from Shamrock Rovers FC.

Noonan makes the move to the RSC ahead of the 2025 SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division season after coming up through the Rovers academy.
Conan joined Shamrock Rovers at U15 level in 2017, making an instant impact for our academy sides causing trouble week after week with his powerful runs & silky dribbling.
His academy efforts were rewarded with a spot in Rovers’ B team squad for the 2020 SSE Airtricity First Division, before being involved with Stephen Bradley’s first-team since 2021.
Injury hampered Noonan’s progression in 2022, before regularly making appearances for the Hoops in 2023 as Rovers earned their fourth league title win in as many years.
2024 was Conan’s real breakout season, making 19 league appearances for the Hoops with four assists to his name – one of which came against the Blues at the RSC in April as he set up Roberto Lopes’ winning goal in the second-half.
Conan also made two appearances for Shamrock Rovers in their UEFA Europa Conference League group phase run against Larne FC (Northern Ireland) & FK Borac Banja Luka (Bosnia & Herzegovina).
The now 22-year-old also made his Ireland U21 debut in June of last year, making a substitute appearance against England’s U20 side.
Noonan now makes the season-long loan to the RSC for 2025, where he will look to play an important role in Keith Long’s side this season.
Speaking to our club media on his signing, Conan spoke of his excitement to get going with the Blues, commenting:
“I’m delighted to be here. Really looking forward to the season getting started and getting to play at the RSC
I’m an attack minded player, I want to get the crowd off their feet and create things. I work hard and hopefully can chip in with goals and assists to help the team.
I’m really looking forward to getting started. I’ve spoken with Keith [Long] quite a lot over the last few weeks, and his vision for me and my role in the team is what excited me. Anyone I’ve spoke to only had good things to about him and his teams so I’m looking forward to it.
I just want to improve as a player and a person and to be happy playing my football is the main thing. I think when I’m playing football carefree and consistently, I play my best stuff and I think that will help me contribute to having a good season hopefully.
I’m really happy to be here and can’t wait to get going. Can’t wait to see all the fans in the RSC soon.”
Conan will wear the number 20 shirt with the Blues this season.
Welcome to Waterford, Conan!
