WATERFORD FC
The girls in Blue kick-off their home campaign with the visit of reigning FAI Cup Champions Shelbourne FC to the RSC this Saturday in our second SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division game of the season.
The side started their inaugural season in senior football with a two-nil defeat away to Munster rivals Treaty United FC last Saturday, as a goal either side of half-time saw the Shannonsiders pick up the points.
Despite the result, the Blues will be happy with their first 90-minutes of competitive football in their legs, as they look forward to the exciting challenge of welcoming Shelbourne FC to the RSC on Saturday.

SHELBOURNE FC
The Reds make the journey down South on Saturday looking to kick-start their season after falling to a narrow 2-1 defeat at home to Shamrock Rovers FC last Saturday.
Kate Mooney got Eoin Wearen’s side off the the perfect start inside the opening seconds, before Rovers levelled minutes after half-time. As the sides looked set to share the points, the Tallaght side stole the points in the 95th minute to inflict an opening day defeat to Shels.
Shelbourne come to the RSC on Saturday with one of the most experienced squads in the league this year, with Pearl Slattery leading the side along with league veterans Roma McLaughlin, Nicole Murray & Keeva Keenan just a few of many well-known names in the Reds’ side.

TEAM NEWS
Lauren Egbuloniu misses out after an injury sustained last week at the Markets Field, with Gary Hunt otherwise having a full squad to choose from.
GARY HUNT’S THOUGHTS
“The players & staff are looking forward to the game and understand the difficulty of the task in front of us, but these are the reasons we entered the league to test ourselves against the top teams in the country.
It will be a proud day for all involved to see this project come to fruition on the pitch at the RSC and, as important as it is for our players to enjoy the occasion we must not forget that we are here to compete in a football match and we cannot lose sight of that. Last week was a good learning opportunity for us and it will be important to see those learnings put into practice because only then can we grow as a group.
I’m sure the Blues fans will be right behind us and it will be great to see a strong support in the RSC, something that this group of players deserve and long may it last.”
