The Blues are back on the road for their fifth game of the 2025 Women’s Premier Division season. After coming up just short in their opening two games, Gary Hunt’s side have picked up back-to-back wins in their last two outings to come into Saturday’s Munster Derby in full confidence.
After Olivia Shannon’s double gave the Blues their first-ever win in Sligo last month, the side picked up their first-ever home win seven days later with a 4-2 win against DLR Waves at the RSC. Lauren Walsh twice put the Blues infront before the visitors levelled proceedings on both occasions, before substitute Erin O’Brien netted herself a brace late on to give the Blues maximum points.
The side sit in seventh position in the league table going into Saturday’s game, with six points to their name from their opening four fixtures.

CORK CITY FC
City will be looking to bounce back from two defeats in a row before the International Break with a result against the Blues on Saturday.
After falling to an opening-day defeat away to Peamount United, the Rebel Army defeated Sligo Rovers 4-0 to pick up their first & only points of the season to date.
With just a sole win to their name, Cork sit in tenth positions in the league table going into Saturday’s clash at Turners Cross.

TEAM NEWS
Lauren Egbuloniu remains out after her surgery following her ACL Injury. Danielle Burke & Danielle Griffin are both doubts ahead of the game on Saturday for Gary Hunt’s side.
GARY HUNT’S THOUGHTS
“We experienced a lot in the first four weeks of the season so I felt the break came at a good time for us and we are now excited to see what the next block of games will bring over the next 7 weeks. The girls are looking forward to getting back on the pitch and a game against Cork is a great way to return.
It is important to remember this group is still in its infancy and we are developing every week with each different experience we are exposed to and this game against Cork will no doubt bring a new & exciting opportunity of learning for this group.
Last time out the girls showed great resilience to ensure they got all three points after two set-backs throughout the 90 minutes but we managed to get the win which I felt we deserved on the day.
Saturday will be different as I am sure Cork will go into this game with the expectancy to get the result on their home patch but all we can continue to do is keep working hard for one another and in the long run we will be stronger for it.”
