It’s that time of year where the Blues find out their fate as they enter the Sports Direct Men’s FAI Cup Second-Round today, with our Women’s side entering the Sports Direct Women’s FAI Cup First-Round for the time.
MEN
John Coleman’s Blues enter the second-round stage of the 2025 Sports Direct Men’s FAI Cup today alongside the remaining 19 League of Ireland teams – plus 12 non-league sides from across the country.
The Blues fell to a disappointing 3-2 extra-time defeat to Athlone Town AFC last season in the third-round, having defeated Donegal outfit Cockhill Celtic FC 2-1 at the RSC in the second-round.
Waterford reached the semi-final stage in both the 2022 & 2023 seasons, coming up just short against Bohemian FC & Shelbourne FC, as they look to go one step further this year and make their maiden appearance at the Aviva Stadium.
The draw takes place today at 1pm live on the FAI’s YouTube channel, with the Blues given ball number 30 ahead of the draw.
The fixtures for the second-round are to take place on week-ending 20th July.

WOMEN
Gary Hunt’s side make further history today, as the Blues enter the Sports Direct Women’s FAI Cup for the first-ever time.
Joining the draw alongside their 11 other League of Ireland sides, four non-league sides make up the total number of 16 teams that enter the draw at the first-round stage.
The Girls in Blue are ball number 14 for today’s draw, which takes place at 1pm live on the FAI’s YouTube channel.
The first-round draw is set to take place on week-ending 29th June.
