The Girls in Blue return to action this Saturday after their mid-season break, as they travel to the midlands to take on Athlone Town AFC in their final All-Island Cup Group game, and we have everything you need to know ahead of kick-off!

Athlone Town AFC vs Waterford FC
All-Island Cup Group D Matchday 3
Saturday 7th June 2025
Athlone Town Stadium, Athlone
3pm
WATERFORD FC
Gary Hunt’s side go in search of adding to the sole point they already ahve to their name (a 0-0 draw on matchday 1 of the All-Island cup against Treaty United) with a result against bottom-side Athlone Town this Saturday.
In what is the second meeting between the sides already this year, the midlanders emerged victorious last month in a 3-0 victory at their home ground.
The Blues will hope to get a result on Saturday as they look to get out of the group at their first time of asking.

ATHLONE TOWN AFC
Colin Fortune’s side head into Saturday’s clash looking to pick up their first-points of their All-Island campaign.
A 1-0 defeat away to Glentoran FC on matchday 1 was followed with another 1-0 loss away to Treaty United in their most recent game, as they look to turn around their on fortune on Saturday against the Blues.
Goals from Kelly Brady, Madison Gibson & Katherine Sullivan gave Athlone the points when the sides faced off against each other at the Athlone Town Stadium last month.

TEAM NEWS
Lauren Egbuloniu remains out for the remainder of the season following her ACL injury picked up in our opening game of the season.
The squad has quite a few players doubtful going into Saturday’s game in Athlone.
GARY HUNT’S THOUGHTS
“This is the first game back after the break so we are looking forward to seeing what the second half of the season brings us as a group. The players have competed in every game and even though we are disappointed to not have more points on the board, I can’t fault the effort this young group are putting in week on week.
Unfortunately we have to reverse the game this weekend so we know how tough it is going to be against the league champions on their home turf having only played up there last month.
Although we are potentially down some players this weekend we are also hopeful we might be able to reintroduce some of our injured players who have been working hard behind the scenes to get back on the pitch.”
Tickets for Saturday’s game are available to purchase at the gate ahead of kick-off for Waterford FC supporters making the journey to back the Blues!
