Waterford FC are thrilled to announce that Ryan Burke has become the latest player to commit his future to the Blues, penning a new deal to remain with the club in 2025.
The 23-year-old joined Waterford at the start of 2023, as he played an integral part of our promotion winning side playing 39 times for the Blues across all competitions in 2023.
Burke has made 25 appearances for Keith Long’s side so far in 2024, most recently last Friday against Drogheda United FC at the RSC where he produced a Man of the Match performance as the Waterford secured their place in the Premier Division in 2025 with a point against the Louth side on Friday.
Our number-three has been a key figure in our defence this season, captaining the side to Munster Senior Cup success, along with netting his only goal of the season at home to Cockhill Celtic FC in our FAI Cup 2nd Round clash in July.
With 64 appearances to his name at Waterford FC since his arrival at the beginning of last season, Burke will look to play an important role with the Blues in 2025.
Speaking on his new deal, Ryan was delighted to get it over the line, commenting:
“I’m delighted to have signed a new deal. Since I have signed, I have loved it here and have felt at home straight away thanks to the players, staff and fans who have been brilliant with me.
I’m really looking forward to my future at this club. For me the club is only going in one direction and I’m delighted to be part of it.”
Waterford FC Head Coach Keith Long is delighted to secure the services of Ryan Burke for 2025, mentioning:
“We’re delighted to extend Ryan’s contract at the club. He’s been a very consistent performer since he arrived at the club at the beginning of 2023, so we’re looking forward to continuing to work with him.
He’s a good lad, a good character around the dressing room, and has impressed on the pitch for us, so we’re looking forward to continuing that relationship working together.”
The Blues are in action this Friday as we travel to Tolka Park to take on league leaders Shelbourne FC in our penultimate away league fixture of 2024, with tickets on sale NOW!
