Friday 25th April 2025

RSC, Waterford

WATERFORD FC

The Blues go in search of returning to winning ways, fresh off from Monday’s defeat away to Cork City FC, with the visit of Derry City FC to the RSC on Friday evening.

The Blues will be hoping to get their second win of the seaosn against Derry City, after defeating the Candystripes by two-goals-to-one in February when goals from Kyle White & Kacper Radkowski gave the Blues an all important win.

Matt Lawlor has had a full week of training with the side this week, as the Blues look to pick up a positive result on Friday evening.

DERRY CITY FC

Tiernan Lynch brings his side to the RSC on Friday looking to continue their recent good run of form with a result against the Blues.

After a poor start to the season, Derry have lost just one of their last seven league games – most recently defeating Sligo Rovers FC 3-0 at the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Derry currently sit in sixth position in the league table on 17 points – just three behind league leaders Drogheda United FC – going into Friday’s game against the Blues.

TEAM NEWS

Dean McMenamy misses the game on Friday due to suspension, whilst Trae Coyle also misses the game through injury after picking up a hamstring injury against Cork City FC on Monday.

MATT LAWLOR’S THOUGHTS

“There were large parts of Monday’s game that we were pleased with. We need of course take it up a notch this Friday. Derry are a good team with very good players. It’s been a really positive week in training in a really positive environment. The lads have put in the effort this week, and hoepfully that translates to the pitch on Friday night.”
