Waterford FC vs St. Patrick’s Athletic FC
SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division
Sunday 3rd August 2025
RSC, Waterford
4pm
WATERFORD FC
The Blues are back in action at home this Sunday, looking to make it four wins on the bounce after picking up three consecutive wins in as many weeks.
The Blues secured their first win in Galway in 18 years last week, with a dominant 4-2 win at Eamonn Deacy Park.
Pádraig Amond maintained his positionn as the leagues top goalscorer with two more goals to his name last week – taking his 2025 total up to 12 – with an own goal & Conan Noonan setting us on our way to an important result on the road.
John Coleman’s side will look to build on their recent performances with a result on Sunday – against a side who we have found success against in recent years.
The Blues picked up two home wins against the Saints last season, while two late goals gave the Inchicore side the points in our only RSC meeting in 2025 to date back in March.
Waterford did pick up a point away to St. Pats live infront of the Virgin Media cameras in May, as goals from Tommy Lonergan & Conan Noonan gave us a point on the road infront of a huge travelling away support.
Heading into Sunday’s game, the Blues sit in sixth position in the league table, with 33 points to our name from 25 games played so far in 2025.

ST. PATRICK’S ATHLETIC FC
The Saints make the journey to the RSC on Sunday afternoon fresh from their UEFA Europa Conference League 2nd Qualifying Round win away to Kalju FC of Estonia – where an extra-time goal from Jake Mulraney gave Pats a 3-2 aggregate win over their European opposition.
Now with their Third Round opponents of Besiktas FC of Turkey now confirmed – a side that is managed by Ole Gunnar Solskjae – Pats must now first turn their attention back to league action against the Blues on Sunday.
Stephen Kenny’s side have failed to win each of their last 5 Premier Division games (2 draws, 3 losses), although they did dispatch UCC AFC 8-0 in their Sports Direct Men’s FAI Cup Second-Round tie in Richmond Park two weeks ago in their most recent domestic fixture.
Pats currently sit in seventh position in the Premier Division table going into Sunday’s game – one point behind the Blues on 32 with as many games played.

TEAM NEWS
John Coleman has no fresh injury concerns following last Friday’s win in Galway. Kacper Radkowski & Matty Smith remain unavailable due to injury, while Josh Miles is available for selection for the first time in his Blues career.
JOHN COLEMAN’S THOUGHTS
“I thought the game that we played with St. Pats last time was a really, really good game, an entertaining game. Great for Irish football. I think it was live on TV as well when I saw it. I think it was a great advert, as I said, for the Irish League, but that’s the way we want to play, you know, making chances.
We’d like to be a little bit tighter, obviously, and not concede goals, but we made a lot of chances that night and we’ve got to try and use that to try and motivate us to try and do the same again.”
